Marketing to Millennials is a challenge for many businesses.
Millennials often called Generation Y, are a demographic currently between 18 and 35 years old. Their values and the media they interact with tends to be different than that of the previous generations.

You have to understand the Millennial Mindset if you want to market your business to millennials effectively. The Millennial Mindset can be used to identify how millennials consume content and what drives their buying decisions.

Millennials tend to care about influencer marketing more than PPC advertising when it comes to buying decisions. They look up reviews from trusted authorities.

Marketing to this generation is very different than marketing to other generations based on their values, the types of media they consume and who they are influenced by.

Millennials don't value establishment media, they don't have a favorite news anchor, or even a favorite newspaper or radio host. They have favorite bloggers, youtubers and websites and podcast. Understanding what and who Millennials value and where they are engaged and how they consume content is essential to marketing to them effectively. You have to ask "Why will a Millennial care about my business and what I have to offer?"

A key difference between Millennials and Baby Boomers is what media they value and how they value it. If you tell a Baby Boomer you wrote a book... on the internet... they won't take you seriously. But if you have it in print, even if it has zero sales, they will think you're something special.

You can have 1 Million Subscribers on YouTube and it might not matter to some Baby Boomers, but if you are on the local news station you're a rock star!

The Gap with Generation X is not as wide. Both Generation X and Millennials enjoy Medium Form Content, such as blogs and YouTube videos. They overlap in social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn Twitter and Google Plus. Both Generations value the online buying experience heavily.

Understanding the context of marketing to these demographics and their key differences is going to really help you scale your business and go deep on engagement with them, while building strong execution strategies.
