Is Udemy right for you and your business? In this video, you’ll discover how to properly leverage Udemy courses to help build your brand and business.

There is a lot of advice on HOW to create a Udemy course, but little discussion as to weather or not it’s even worth your time in the first place. And if you do decide to spend your energy producing a course, how does it fit into your overall business and branding strategy?

In this video, I’ll breakdown how I think you can best use Udemy to build your brand and business. Here’s a quick summary of my thoughts from the video. My opinion and strategy is based upon three things:

1) The Udemy pricing structure gets in the way of making a full-time income as an instructor
2) The Udemy management team does not appear to listen to instructors and their needs
3) The Udemy course terms of use severally limited instructors and entrepreneurs ability to build a list

So how do I recommend you use Udemy courses? As a small part of your overall branding strategy. Creating a basic course designed for beginners in your niche or industry is a great way to quickly create a content rich Udemy courses that will be well received.

You see the power in creating a free Udemy course (don’t do paid!) is that it allows you to quickly get feedback on your content and build a large student list. Really the number of students is what you care about when creating your course. As you market yourself and build your brand on other platforms, you can use your Udemy courses as social proof.
For example, if you have 300 people signed up for your free course on Udemy, you can use that number 300, to build your creditability in your marketing and sales messages for your paid content.

This is cool, because getting 300 or 1,000 people to sign-up for a free course on your own site can be very expensive. So, by having your free Udemy course, you have a way to build up massive social proof for free. Cool, right?
