Keyword Density Is Still Relevant For SEO - Find Out How To Easily Calculate It | WP Learning Lab

Keyword Density is one of the most abused aspects of SEO. Marketers used to add their keyword over and over on the page in order to help rank the page.

This is called keyword stuffing and it used to work REALLY well.

Google soon realized the manipulation and change their algorithm to penalize keyword stuffing instead of reward it.

That change was made many years ago, but some people are still advising keyword stuffing.

I advise keeping your keyword density below 4%. That means of all the words in your content less than 4% of those words are your keywords.

There are people who advise the other extreme and say you shouldn't optimize for keywords at all and Google will still rank you. Which isn't really true.

Within including your keyword Google and other search engines won't know what you're content is about. If it can't determine the purpose of your content Google won't be able to rank you for anything in its search results.

I advise you add your keyword or key phrase to:
1. The page title
2. The URL
3. The first paragraph
4. A heading (preferably an H2)

And throughout your content, but keeping the keyword density below 4%.
