I realize that there’s a fairly detailed explanation of each of the sections above with the timestamps, but I thought it would be a good idea to make an overview of each of the primary steps in the website creation process below.

Step 1: Hosting and domain name signup

In this step we get our free domain name for the first year, and our hosting package. I chose to use GreenGeeks within this tutorial. I’ve been using them for a while now and I believe they offer a great blend of website speed, support, and have fair prices. Within the hosting signup process there are a couple of things to be aware of. One, is that there is usually a discounted entry offer by the hosting company. After the initial term the price will likely increase. This is common among almost all hosts in the industry. Two, is that the longer duration you sign up for with your introductory plan, the bigger discount you’ll get. Essentially, it pays to sign up for a longer plan.

Step 2: Installing WordPress on our domain name
In this step we install WordPress on our domain name within the GreenGeeks control panel area. WordPress is the most popular way to create websites. It’s very easy to setup, and if you follow along with me in this step it should only take a few minutes to setup!

Step 3: Installing our theme and content
In this step we go through the process of installing the Astra theme and the starter site content that comes with it for our website. This step might sound complicated to someone who hasn’t used WordPress or Astra before, but it’s honestly quite easy and a real time-saver!

Step 4: Setting up our menu
Here we go through setting up our menu. Normally I wouldn’t put this as its own specific step, but since this is a one-page website we must create our menu with custom links and anchors. The key here is to take your time and make sure you set things up right. I recommend going through this slowly. Just remember, you can always go back through the video if you get stuck on this section.

Step 5: Editing our website content
This last step is a big step. In all honesty, it’s really many tiny steps in one here. However, the second half of this how to make a business website tutorial is dedicated this. I’ll show you how to edit numerous aspects of the site’s content. I also go over some simple tips that I hope makes the tutorial beginner friendly, and easy to follow along with.
