The Brooklyn Tea story starts with a young Alfonso honoring a daily family ritual: bringing his mother a hot cup of tea. That daily ritual turned into a lifelong passion, and as an adult, Alfonso dove headfirst into the tea world. He studied different varieties of tea, how other cultures experience tea, and even got certified as a tea sommelier—that is, a bonafide tea expert. Passion then turned into business, and after loads of planning (and even more tea) he and Jamila launched their company, offering an assortment of hot and iced teas to their customers with a simple promise: to open their minds to the world of tea and its many flavors. Alfonso and Jamila share how running a business together has changed their relationship, the importance of a solid business plan and what’s brewing next for Brooklyn Tea.
