Making images clickable is easy and can add value and interest to your site. This video shows you how to turn photos and graphics into links that open other pages on your site or web pages on other sites.

Let’s say you own an historic inn and this is your website’s home page. You have a link to your About page in the top navigation, but you also want this large photo on your Home page to link to your About page.

In Website Builder’s Designer, click the photo to open the Edit menu.

On the Edit menu, click the Settings icon to open this Settings window.

In the Link section, on the right end of the Destinations box, click the red and white down-arrow to display the list of pages that make up your site.

You want the photo to open your About page, so you click About, leave the “Open link in a new window” box unchecked, and then click Save.

To check that your link works correctly, click Preview. If you roll your cursor over the photo you linked, the arrow should turn into a hand. This tells you – and your visitors – that the photo is a hyperlink.

Click anywhere on the photo and there’s the About page. The link works perfectly!

Click Exit Preview to go back to the Designer tool.

You can also link to web pages outside of your site. For example, on your About page, you’ve added the logo for the National Pollinator Garden Network. You could make the logo a link to the organization’s website.

First, select the logo and click Settings.

You’ve been here before, but this time instead of choosing a page in the Destinations box, you’re going to enter the URL or web address for the National Pollinator’s website.

Since this link will be going outside of your website, select the “Open link in new window” checkbox. This ensures the external site opens in a new window and doesn’t close your website. Click Save.

Now click Preview, and click the logo to test the link. The National Pollinator’s site opens and your site remains open too.

All that’s left to do is click Publish, and your two new inks will be active on your live website.
