Start by installing and activating the Simple Social Icons plugin:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-social-icons/

Under Appearance, Widgets you will be able to decide the design of the icons from color to spacing.

When you are fine with the appearance of the icons you would then add the urls for the social media that you want shown.

Save your changes and now when you view your site there will be the social media icons for the urls that you have added.
