After a rejection from the girl of his dreams, Justin McLeod started a relationship app in 2011 to help him find someone like the girl who got away. The app was designed to replicate a comfortable environment where two people would authentically meet, like a mutual friend’s wedding or house party. Hinge was the key to bridging the degrees of separation between two people looking for love. After a few years of success, Hinge launched a reboot in 2016, making the decision to ignore competitors like Match.com and Tinder and instead become more customer focused. With every app improvement released, Hinge became more popular and hasn’t looked back since. Today, Hinge has been acquired by Match and continues to be wildly successful as the relationship app that’s changing the way millenials are dating.
