Google Sites provides free hosting to any domain name. The only thing you need to do is purchase a domain name and to then set it as the "custom domain" for your Google Site website.

The process is easy:

1- Go to Namecheap and register your domain name of choice.

2- Set the custom domain name in Google Sites to that of the domain name you just registered.

3 - Verify ownership (demonstrated in the video) through setting a TXT record in your DNS records.

4 - Then set a CNAME record in your DNS records using:
www - for the host and ghs.googlehosted (add a .com)

Done!

Google sites is perfect for an about me website, online resume or any simple 5 to 10 page website for a business, club, cafe and so forth.
