Need to add a nofollow link to your WordPress navigation menu? Many website owners prefer to add nofollow tags to external links, but beginners may find it difficult to add custom links to menus. In this article, we will show you how to add a nofollow link to your WordPress navigation menu.

How to Add Nofollow Links in WordPress Navigation Menu
Why add a nofollow link to your WordPress navigation menu?
If you run a WordPress site, you may want to add the nofollow tag when creating external links. This lets search engines know not to pass link authority from your site to other sites you link to.
When you link to an external website, search engines see it as a ranking signal and grant a small percentage of your authority to other websites. As a general best practice for SEO, add nofollow to any external sites you don't trust.

To get started, just visit the Appearance » menu in your WordPress admin. First, you need to add external links to your WordPress navigation menu just like any custom link. To do this, you need to click on the Custom Links tab in order to see the URL and link text options. Just enter the URL and link text of the website you want to link to. After that, you should click the "Add to Menu" button and the link will be added to the "Menu Structure" column.

To add the nofollow attribute to a link, you need to click the down arrow to the right of the menu item, as shown in the screenshot above. You can now see the details of the external link you just added, including the URL and navigation labels.

Click Screen Options at the top of the screen
If you don't see the "Link Target" and "Link Relationship" options, you need to add them.
