When creating an information product, it’s really easy to get carried away and build something you think your future customers will love. In this episode of building an online business Jason details the process he used to create the foundation for his information product.

Weather your creating a course or a physical product, you need start with your ideal customer’s problems. Ask what their challenges are and what you can do to help them. Your information product should be all about one thing, and one thing only: solving a big problem for your ideal customer. Too often entrepreneurs build products they wish they had had when they were just getting started instead focusing on their customers first.

Here’s what the information product creation process looks like. Start by drawing a line down the middle of your paper. Label one side “Situation” and the other side “Solution”. Use the following 4 information product foundation questions to determine what your information product should be.
1. Identify Your Ideal Customer
2. Brainstorm what they want to accomplish
3. What road blocks are they facing?
4. What solutions could you offer?

Once you’ve answered those 4 questions in detail, you’re ready to start creating your information product. It can be coaching, a course, or an e-book.
