When the pandemic prompted her to reflect on her life’s path, Kat Hernandez found her calling by creating a business out of something she loved: plants. She launched Juanita’s Plants — an indoor plant delivery service in NYC. Starting out by selling on Facebook, Kat quickly realized her need for a website to show people Juanita’s Plants was legit. Getting a GoDaddy ecommerce website allowed her to efficiently monitor sales, inventory and stay organized to seamlessly take care of her clients, all while growing her business. Folks stuck working from home became more aware of their surroundings and wanted plants to bring life into their small, drab spaces. After making her first website sale from a customer who gave Juanita’s Plants major props on social media, orders started pouring in. With the continuous help of her mother and boyfriend, Kat recognizes the importance of having a support system as a small business owner — because you’ll need the encouragement to keep on going when the going gets tough. As Kat continues to bring joy to homes through the power of healthy indoor plants, she knows firsthand how crucial it is to believe in yourself, believe in what you’re doing and keep doing it no matter what in order to sustain a successful business. It’s as simple as that.
