GoDaddy Guide to Cincinnati, Anna Mae Groves, takes us to Sweets & Meats, an award-winning Cincinnati BBQ joint offering catering services, carry out and food trucks. Owners Anton Gaffney and Kristen Bailey reveal what it really looks like to weave a deep-rooted community into their daily operations. What started out as a regular cookout for friends quickly turned into a BBQ business when friends started shelling out cash to get a plate of Anton and Kristen's insanely good home cooking. After the official launch of their business, an influx of catering orders prompted them to move from a huge outdoor smoker into an indoor commissary kitchen — all within a couple of months! While keeping bellies happy with delicious smoked meats, homemade sides and specialty desserts, the dynamic duo makes it a priority to ensure both their customers and employees feel like family in the most genuine way. Their staff even refused to stop working during the pandemic because they cared deeply about supporting Anton and Kristen’s dream. Despite much loss and grief during the pandemic, Kristen is beyond thankful for the loyalty of her staff and customers to keep the business alive — making the impossible, possible. Since they did so much mobile business, they knew it was time to get a GoDaddy website to help customers find their home base and book events. They also use GoDaddy Payments to allow customers to easily and quickly make payments at both of their food trucks. Despite all the challenges faced when running a business, their biggest advice to entrepreneurs is to never give up, ignore the naysayers and keep chasing your dream.
