After Chad Palmatier and Anthony Sobotik met in the big city, their small town connection and childhood memories of eating homemade ice cream sparked a business idea — starting an ice cream shop in Texas. These cofounders of Lick Honest Ice Cream set out on a mission to make artisan ice cream flavors using pure, honest ingredients for the savvy palates of Austin. With a lot of taste testing and collaboration with farmers and artisans, they keep their rotating menu interesting with unique flavors that keep customers licking. Using compostable items and fresh ingredients from nearby farms, Chad and Anthony also ensure their ice cream shop remains sustainable to support the environment and the local entrepreneurs they partner with. Because seeing smiling faces (from customers to employees and vendors) is what makes all the hard work worth it. After 10 years, 5 brick-and-mortar shops and 150 wholesale accounts across the big state of Texas, there’s no telling what’s next for this business — but we know it’ll be sweet.
