Growing up, every family visit to Mexico City would include a stop at Derek’s favorite restaurant for authentic street tacos. Many years (and tacos) later, Derek saw an opportunity to bring authentic Mexican food to his community. He opened up Pilo’s Street Tacos in Miami and hasn’t looked back since. The restaurant is named after his Aunt Pilo, whose warmth and gracious hospitality inspires Derek each and every day. He made it his mission to employ people with special needs and make his restaurant a place where everyone feels welcome, much like his Aunt Pilo always did. Today, Pilo’s continues to bring a taste of Mexico City to the States, serving up the most authentic street tacos in Miami with a smile.
