/post-name/ is a great choice if you're blog is going to be under 1000 posts. It's clean and easy to understand for both search engines and your visitors.

/blog/post-name/ is a great choice if you're running an ecommerce website or any website that has a core offering that is not blog content.

/category/post-name/ is perfect for large content websites with over 1000 blog posts. Think of sites like ThePennyHoarder.com that produce a wide array of content on multiple topics.

/date/post-name this is fine if you're publishing time sensitive content. Otherwise dates are one of the worst structures possible for a blog.

Wix Pros and Cons of this Expensive Website Builder

The Wix website builder is an advanced, feature rich software that allows creators to make a website, blog or online store with ease. To say that Wix is simply a website builder is quite an understatement: https://davidutke.com/wix

Wix is a domain name registrar, hosting provider, blogging platform, ecommerce solution, logo maker, payment processor, scheduling system, membership management, email marketing system, customer relationship management tool, point of sale system, hardware provider and of course an advanced unstructured drag and drop builder.

The pros of Wix are many. First it is an unstructured drag and drop editor that comes with a lot of easy to use, pre made themes that you can customize to your liking. In addition, it's easy to optimize a Wix website for mobile.

Next is the support. One big benefit of going with a company like Wix is that it's centralized. One company, one support channel. For a beginner, this is quite helpful as you don't have to fumble around looking for help in various forums or through your theme maker or web host.

When buying domain directly from Wix, it makes setting up your website quick and easy. Within minutes you'll have a custom domain name and an SSL. Wix also has a lot of great multi-functional integration which enable creators to have unlimited access to any feature they want (for a price).

Blogging is really good and you have all the control over the on page SEO of your blog posts that you should come to expect as a professional creator. In addition, you can lock blog posts behind subscription pay wall. With blogging and content marketing, you can also engage in various forms of ecommerce. Everything from drop shipping to print on demand to selling your own digital downloads. You can even rent videos or sell subscriptions off your website. Finally, you get 5000 email sends a month with your account.

The cons of Wix are also many. First, it's clunky setting up domain name through a proper domain name registrar which kind of motivates you to use Wix as your registrar simply because it is so easy. However, Wix does not provide WHOIS protection.

When it comes to creating a professional email, there is no way to set it up for free to get started. You have to pay for dedicated email hosting which is an annoying added cost to getting started as a beginner.

Another deal breaker is the lack of redirection for affiliate links. There is no way to track and manage links on your website. When setting up Modalyst, it also automatically assumes your country and currency and there is no way to change this other than going back and forth with support over a few emails.

Wix has no gift cards, product options limited (no radial buttons, not ideal for customizable prodcuts like shoes), there is a lack of payment options though not unreasonable as most will pay with credit card or Paypal. Automatic shipping calculations only available with USPS in the United States. The translation app is ok for simple sites, but not that great for large, complex websites. The store policy section useless, just create and design a dedicated page for this.

Cancelling your account and getting a refund also required you to again spend time with support instead of being a few clicks of a button. Overall, Wix is a fantastic platform what allows you to build any type of website but it is expensive. As a new creator you'll have to pay a premium for the domain name, the ecommerce plan and an ascend plan if you want to level up your email marketing efforts.

In this WordPress tutorial video I'll first show you how to quickly add a contact form to your website using WP Forms. You have a lot of different options for contact form plugins with WordPress but WP Forms is my personal favorite as they provide the right combination of features and ease of use.

Once you have your form installed now it's time to secure it with hCaptcha or reCaptcha. I personally like hCaptcha more for simple contact forms as reCaptcha is applied site wide. Instead, we just want to secure one simple form. Also, with hCaptcha you can adjust the difficulty of the challenge.

So SiteGround like a lot of web hosts and domain registrars recently started offering a website builder option through an integration with Weebly. Weebly is a tried and tested website builder platform that competes with both Wix and Squarespace.

For SiteGround, it does provide a much needed diversification of services but they need to let users who decide to use Weebly through SiteGround the ability to set a footer and favicon. For the price that you're paying for hosting, to have this sort of limitation built in is just a deal breaker. If they find a solution to that then it's simply a great website builder!

Namecheap vs Google Domains - Which One is Better?

So first and foremost, both domain name registrars are excellent and you won't go wrong with either one. With both you get low registration prices, low renewal rates and free WHOIS protection.

The differences between the two though are subtle but numerous. Namecheap offers better introduction prices for TDL's, but has a slightly higher renewal price than Google Domains. Namecheap just flat out offers better prices on alternative extensions like .co. For website builders, Namecheap has their own in-house options and a partnership with SiteMaker while Google Domains does not have a website builder but does offer easy integration with Google Sites and Blogger.

For email, Namecheap in general is better as they offer low cost email hosting. By contract, Google Domains does not offer *just* email hosting. You have to get a Workspace account which is great for a small team.

On Tumblr you can design your own website to your liking, easily share blog posts, pictures, quotes, audio and more. It's perfect for anyone looking to curate content around a specific topic.

For me, I'm going to be building out a Tumblr blog around video finance from the great selection of YouTube videos here as well as any tips or advice I come across. Sort of like a public notebook, except with a community around it and the ability to leverage affiliate marketing as a way to make money.

Tumblr vs Blogger - Which One Should You AVOID?

So I've used both Tumblr and Blogger and both platforms are great, but they are not without their limits. Tumblr is ideal for curating content and blogger is for traditional long form content. So which one is best?

If you're wanting to start a personal blog then go with Blogger. It's more ideal as it's geared for long form content with videos and images. Plus, you can actually rank a blogger blog and get that organic search traffic. In addition, you can run display advertising with Google AdSense and engage in affiliate marketing.

Tumblr is part social media website, part content platform. Not ideal for long form content, think of it like Twitter except amped up. It's ideal to curate content for yourself and others and to engage with the Tumblr community. With enough attention on the platform, leveraging affiliate links does become possible but I would not go with Tumblr for commercial purposes. Last, Tumblr does not allow you to run display ads.
