Dreamhost actually offers a 100% uptime guarantee. Of course this isn’t possible because scheduled maintenance and server upgrades still need to happen. So it’s more accurate to say that Dreamhost guarantees that your website won’t be down for unforeseen reasons. And they actually commit to this promise by giving you 1 free day of hosting for every 1 hour your website is down.

Dreamhost shared web hosting plans offer acceptable loading speed. But their managed WordPress solution was extremely fast. Loading my website in just 0.8seconds. As well as scoring 100% with PageSpeed. Showing that there’s little to no room left from WordPress optimizations.

I’ve monitored 2 Dreamhost websites for more than 40 days and they both managed to be up 100% of the time. Having no downtime in such a long period of time is exactly what I’m looking for in a hosting provider.

Shared Dreamhost hosting starts at just $2.59 a month. That’s one of the cheapest web hosting plans you can get outside of Hostinger or special promotions with other web hosting providers. While the price is low, features and performance isn’t lacking.

However, I believe that their DreamPress plans starting at $16.95 are even more cost effective. If you choose a DreamPress plan Dreamhost will actually take care of maintenance tasks on your website themselves. It’s like having a personal system administrator that takes care of your website.

DreamPress plans are fully compatible with e-commerce stores, provide free automatic backups and from my experience never go offline. It’s one of the best choices you can make if you’re planning to start making money with your website.

DREAMHOST SUPPORT

This is the reason why I can’t recommend Dreamhost to more people. I understand how important it is to have help if you’re just starting out and not everyone has the time to invest in learning the best practices of web hosting.

While Dreamhost does offer phone, email and chat support. It’s not that effective. For phone support you’ll have to pay $10 each time you make a phone call and their email support is slow. But in my opinion the worst offender is that their chat support isn’t 24/7.

It has set hours that it works on. So you’re only able to reach them during those hours. From my experience, if something goes wrong. You won’t get quick help, but at least stuff rarely goes wrong. Especially if you have backups.

Overall, who should choose Dreamhost? If you’re creating a project that requires stability and speed before anything else.

In my opinion, Dreamhost isn’t best suited for complete beginners due to their lack of support.

But if you’re creating a website that you plan to monetize. Dreamhost is probably the best choice you can make. Especially the DreamPress plans that come with better hardware, automatic backups and even managed maintenance. So you could focus on growing your business, not cleaning the trash of your website.
