Putting a unique twist to the threading skills she learned from her grandmother, Sigourney Morrison decided to turn what she loved (and was crazy good at) into a custom embroidery business: Dressed New Orleans. Using a rainbow of thread colors and a vintage chain stitch machine, Sigourney infuses personality and creative zing into each of her handcrafted designs. After doing pop ups in the area and folks being amazed at what she could do, she knew it was time to get a website to boost her brand awareness. But making things by hand was her expertise — not creating stuff online. With the help of GoDaddy, Sigourney was able to jumpstart her digital presence with a new website showcasing her work, events and more. By partnering up with a local pattern-maker and seamstress, Dressed New Orleans is also able to offer complete outfits to customers. Though she could easily mass-produce her embroidery designs to scale the business, Sigourney still prefers the sweet satisfaction of seeing each of her customer’s faces light up when they see the unique product designed just for them.
