#QOTD What is Your Startup Idea?

Nearly every startup is trying to be the "Uber Of...(Insert Industry Here)". Believe me I get it, Disruption is the big thing now and everyone wants to cash in on it

I bring this up because I'm at DIG SOUTH and there are a lot of events here around pitching and raising money. I'm not completely against raising money, maybe 80/20 but its more that it's just not for me. I'm not an inventor by nature. I like service based industries because I like people, and they are just not as investable as a product based business or developing something you can patent and license.

Personally, I believe intellectual property, aka IP is one of the best investments you can make as an individual. Books and movies and music are still lucrative after the original creator has died, and they aren't dependent on the stock market or even the economy doing well for the most part. In many cases the overhead in producing them is lower than it has ever been while the quality is higher and now there are virtually no gatekeepers.

That is what I am currently and quietly building a business around while I leverage my personal brand and use it as a proving ground for all of my ideas.

Even this vlog is part of the thesis of that business. How much engagement can a serialized vlog, around a specific topic, with low search engine value, low production value (shot and edited completely on a smartphone), actually get?

Is producing content in this way practical?
How far can it be taken and does the format work?
Can it be improved upon to match the quality of higher end productions? What would that take?
Is it worth producing an entire film in this way?

These are things I want to answer for myself, and exploring that with this series has been a revelation into the future of media and content engagement. I feel that "Snapchat as television" could be a thing in the near future, I won't be surprised if we see it hit AppleTV within the next few months... I may do a video about that...
