Giorgio Minguzzi: My name is Giorgio. I live in Italy, and I'm making freelancing, especially in the CRM market.

GoDaddy: Yeah.

GM: I help company to adopt a new CRM. From 60 to 70 percent of the Italian CRM pay. Not because of the technology; you can choose whatever you want. But because people do not use it.

GD: Yeah.

GM: There are many different motivation to produce and I tried to address and to teach to the companies from the top manager to the last user out when the difficulties they had to drive them into a path that is profitable for everybody.

GD: Yeah. Have you always been a freelancer, or did you do something different before?

GM: I became a freelancer recently. Because the main motivation was freedom. I was looking for freedom, not just for the time management because as a freelancer, I work 24 hours a day so now it's not a matter of time, but I want to invest in something that I feel good for me. Also from the ethical point of view, and that's it. The possibility to grow my idea, and maybe I will quit again because the job is growing, the work is growing … Maybe I need to make a startup, I don't know. But for now it's good.

GD: It's good right now.

GM: It's a choice that — it's OK for me.

GD: Yeah. We've talked to other freelancers that they uh, well I guess. Where do you work? Do you work from home or do you work out of co-working spaces, or do you travel a lot?

GM: Oh, frankly speaking I am not able to reply to this … because usually if I make something related to video editing — that could happen — I need my tower, and it's at home. But, for example, if I need to write an article or something like that, I will go to the bar.

GD: Yeah.

GM: Or something like a Starbucks.

GD: Yeah.

GM: Because the noise that helps me to have ideas.

GD: That helps me, too!

GM: It's quite common. But … I want a competition for our startup idea with few friends, and the local authority provided us for free an office in a place really similar to co-working, and time to time I work close to that. So I have really no matter; I am almost independent from my location.

GD: Yeah. What's your biggest challenge as a freelancer?

GM: The biggest challenge for me is to manage all the parts that I never managed before …

GD: Right.

GM: Invoicing, accounting and so on because before I have 15 years of experience making my job, but not making invoice. And I feel that part very boring, so I tried to think how to solve the main issue because it's terrible for me. Really it's a pain.

GD: Yeah.

GM: Not ask money, this is part of the fun. Also the negotiation I love … because mainly I am also a sales guy, but it's the little practical part later is something that is not related to my core.

GD: Yeah. So last question. What type of advice would you give to somebody that's thinking about freelancing? Or like quitting their normal job to do something like that?

GM: Do the stupid things to make it. Because otherwise you have regrets in the future. The suggestion I can tell you is try to make experiment doing your normal job, during the night, during the weekend. But try to find few customer — just few — to understand if you are able to manage them. And then just before to become crazy because you burn out, quit the right job. But go and try and be very serious of this because if you postpone and postpone, time is passing and you cannot make the freelance of 70 or so. You can, but it's very hard. So you have to think and to react. And frankly speaking, if you are not happy with your situation, do it. Because bad feelings affect your family, your life, your health. So do it then worry if something is wrong. Okay, it's life.
