A high school student by day and a small business entrepreneur, The ManeStream grew out of one young man's dream to create his own clothing line. He is in charge of it all from designing to marketing Martin runs the show. Narrator: You may think that every high school student nowadays is lazy, and does nothing productive with their life. But that's not the case with this young man from Esperanza High School.
Martin San Juan: Hi my name is Martin San Juan and I created The ManeStream.
Narrator: The ManeStream is a clothing line created by Martin about two months ago. I got a chance to sit down with him and talk to him about the brand.
MSJ: What I do in ManeStream, right now I'm currently head designer. Obviously I pitch off with the team about some ideas of the clothes, but I also market to try to get the name out. DM people on Instagram, contact some friends, let them spread the word. You know just as a marketer, you just want to get out the name, get out the products. And also I'm in charge of like contacting manufacturers and staying in contact with them so that we know what we wanna make. As far as products we currently released two hats right now. This being one of them. And we currently are sold out of the khaki ones. And right now we're basically in production for this hoodie coming out May 14, and mainly we've been focusing on the summer collection called NeoChannel1. And that will be consisting of about six to seven pieces. Um, just reflecting about ManeStream and our vision.
Martin's Mother: I think this would really be a great help for my son, and this would be also a good practice for him for the future.
MSJ: Although we're a pretty new brand, and started about two months ago, we do have two NBA followers – Brandon Jennings from the Orlando Magic, and Anthony Morrow from the Oklahoma City Thunder. And Morrow has been repping our stuff in some of his post game interviews. What inspired me to do this was ever since a little kid I’ve always loved designing, especially in fashion, and I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur. And I felt like starting this would be a great like learning experience for me, for the future, and I feel like I could build off of this, gain experience.
